Our upbringing—culture, family dynamics, and environment—shapes how we show up in life. Every “no” from authority figures, societal criticism, or being part of a marginalized group takes a toll on how we develop confidence.
Growing up, I was taught to fit the mold and make myself smaller. But to progress and embrace new adventures, confidence is non-negotiable.
It’s the difference between charging premium rates and settling for less—not because of skill, but because confidence is currency in both business and life.
When things feel uncertain, we gravitate toward the person who appears to know what they’re doing. Super secret? That confident delivery builds trust, even if both people are equally skilled.
So, here’s my encouragement: move with confidence, even when caution feels safer. Instead of giving in to self-doubt, invest in yourself—practice, public speaking, research, and preparation will set you apart.
Whether you lead quietly or take center stage, when you do show up, do it confidently and shine.
