I was listening to the radio the other day—thank you, Alexa, for always being there (when you’re not eavesdropping 😂)—and I came across some advice that really hit home. Here are four nuggets of wisdom I needed to hear:
Don’t take criticism from someone you wouldn’t take advice from.
Stop comparing your behind-the-scenes to someone else’s highlight reel.
Self-criticism counts as criticism, too—be kind to yourself.
The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second-best time is now.
Sometimes, we let other people’s opinions carry more weight than they should. But not every opinion deserves your attention, especially if it’s coming from someone you don’t respect.
Social media can make this even harder—it’s a curated truth. The perfect posts, smiling faces, and achievements only tell part of the story. Don’t compare yourself to someone else’s highlight reel.
