As we wrap up the year, I want to share something I don’t often talk about. I’ve always been transparent about challenges and losses. But wins? That’s a bit harder—maybe it’s cultural, but I’m working on it.
Real growth comes from taking responsibility for the positives, too. What’s even harder to share are the things I struggle with—the things society says I should be able to do effortlessly.
Flashback to my corporate days: At first, the workload was overwhelming. But I was quick to learn, even in areas like geography (which isn’t my strength). I worked hard to keep pace with my peers and even outperformed them overall.
Yet, one thing stood out—how I processed information. It wasn’t “normal,” or what was expected, even though my results were exceptional—LOL. My mentors fixated on it—even the one who was also neurodivergent—insisting it was a flaw that needed fixing.
In hindsight, maybe I should have spoken up or moved on from the role to protect my confidence and well-being, even if it wasn’t ideal financially. I was taught to endure, to push through, and that endurance became a talent cultivated through sweat and tears.
But here’s the thing: Not all growth needs to come from pain.
In 2025, I hope your growth and success come with ease. I hope you actively seek spaces, people, and opportunities that recognize and value your unique talents.
